The 💯 Series…But God

The devil thought that he had won many times in my life, But God!

Throughout the course of my life I have seen and done things that, as a kid, I could never have imagined. From moving from city to city with my Mom in my preteens to having a child in my teens, to experiencing a moment of  homelessness in my early thirties, I’ve got countless testimonies of God’s faithfulness.

In this 💯Series testimony, I will share the latter.

In what seemed like a litany of financial difficulties my family and I found ourselves living in hotels to finally landing discouragingly in our small SUV. It was absolutely one of the most unsettling times of my life.

Our eldest son was in his senior year of high school. We anxiously wanted to move out of the city we were in, yet we didn’t want to uproot him from school with less than few months left until graduation. So we endured!

Psalm 37:24 though he may stumble, he will not fall
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 37:25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

Day in and day out we wrestled within our own strength to do what we could to end the situation, but to no avail. Our strength was waning. All we had was God and each other(And My Mom-In-Love, I thank God for her generosity and kindness😊). Just as Psalm 37: 24-25 says, the Lord was with us. Thankfully we never had to beg for anything. He would send people at just the right time who were kind and generous. They encouraged us and supplied resources. We kept praying for a solution to our problem. We tried our best to keep our faith in God and not give in to hopelessness. We believed that He had the power to deliver us on one hand, but on the other hand some days presented challenges that were outright tougher than others and therefore we danced with doubt.

Immediately the father of the boy cried out [with a desperate, piercing cry], saying, “I do believe; help [me overcome] my unbelief.” – Mark 9:24 AMP

When graduation day finally arrived we didn’t hesitate to get out of that city. Our son had plans to attend college so he did not leave with us. Instead of 5 we were now dwindled down to a family of 4 with a dog in our small SUV.

Upon leaving the old city, we could feel the cloud of doom being removed from our heads. We had a renewed hope that God was leading us in the right direction and His ultimate provision would manifest itself in the new city.

Once we arrived, things began to happen quickly. We met a  sweet lady at the YMCA who invited us to bible study that evening. When we got there we met a widowed man and his son who attended the church. He and my husband began to talk and  the guy asked where we would be going after service. My husband, flabbergasted by such a question(and mind you, he is very discrete) responded with “huh? Um were probably just gonna hang out a bit.” The guy responded with “why don’t you come with us for the night. You guys can wash clothes and the boys can play”.

And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. – Romans 8: 28 AMP

We ended up living with this fellow and his son for 3 months. We were able to share our faith with them, all while forming a lasting friendship. We also learned much more about God and ourselves during this whole ordeal. In the midst of difficulty He already had a solution planned for us. Even though we made mistakes, He was loving and kind enough to cover and protect us.  No matter how many times we got it wrong, He made it right!

The things that I pray you will take from this testimony, is that no matter how hopeless your situation may be, there’s still a ‘But God’ moment waiting right around the corner. Nothing is too hard for God. You can absolutely trust Him with every part of your life. He’s not an angry God waiting on you to make mistakes so that He can point the guilty finger at you. On the contrary He’s got His arms open wide to forgive and help you out all your troubles!

It was during the toughest times of life that God shed more light on the gifts He’s given to me. I am able to write more music, testimonies, and stories from what I’ve experienced and all of this is for His glory.. The song above was birthed out of this tough time of the brief time. Please listen. All of my music is available through YouTube & SoundCloud. May you be encouraged as you continue on your journey.

I am so enjoying your testimony! It seems that we are most intimate with the Lord in our greatest suffering. But God…yes!
