The Powerful Hand Of God
God uses people to execute His decrees in the earth. While some may not believe this statement I do because I’ve experienced it!
Years ago I was purchasing a used vehicle through a local privately owned lot. I had been making payments on the car for the better part of two years when my husband and I got married. By this time it was in need of serious repair. The kind of repair that begs the questions “should I repair this thing or just get a new one?”. We opted for the latter. There was one year of payments remaining on the car. I was praying for a solution to pay it off quickly. One night the Lord spoke to me in a dream and told me to ask the owner if he would allow me the opportunity to pay a much smaller percentage of the bill in one lump sum. It sounded like a good plan but I was hesitant simply because I had never seen or done anything like this before. However scripture says that
“no mere man has ever seen, heard, or even imagined what wonderful things God has ready for those who love the Lord” 1 Corinthians 2:9 TLB.
And scripture also says
“ The King’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord. He turns it whichever way He wishes” Proverbs 21:1. Amplified
So I had a choice to make: Follow the voice of God or the voice of doubt. I chose the former and trusted the voice of God. I picked up the phone and dialed the dealership. The receptionist answered and we gave our southern greetings gleefully! The owner was on another call but I felt confident enough to ask her to relay my message to him. Within 10 minutes he called back with my answer. YES! I was soooo happy! I praised God as loud as I could! I shouted and danced and then I went and wrote the check. This would be the first car I’d ever owned outright and God had helped me purchase it. He had given me a plan of action that worked.
“He leads me in the path of righteousness for His name sake” Psalm 23:3 Amplified
“Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God. How unsearchable are His judgements and decisions and how unfathomable and untraceable are His ways” Romans 11:33 Amplified
It’s these moments, which have occurred time and time again in my life that have allowed me to see the hand of God further. Yet it takes man to play the part God ordained for him to play in order for the action to be completed. I used to naively think that if and when God wanted me to have something, it would magically appear. However that’s not the case at all. We have to actively participate in His plan according to His will. He uses man (people) to help man.
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” Phillipians 2:13
I also have to be willing to accept His help through the people he uses. Had I not welcomed His idea to ask for a much lower payoff amount, the owner would not have been able to help me and God’s will would have been aborted. I don’t believe in chance. God is a God of order and purpose. This situation didn’t happen by luck, it happened because it was God’s will. It’s His will to use people to show His good works in the earth (Ephesians 2:10 Amplified). It is His will for His people to live the good life which he already prearranged (Ephesians 2:10 Amplified) And it is His will to get the glory from our lives.
